Even though I read blogs and have known about blogs for most of my adulthood, I have never created an actual blog. Though, I do use social media quite a bit – do Facebook posts count as a blog if you make them often enough? Currently, I am obsessed with reading the Destination Salem blog, since I will be traveling there this week!

To create this blog, I went with WordPress simply because I attempted to use it back in 2007 at the height of the “Mommy Blogger” epidemic. I actually thought I would have the time as a mom of two small children to create something like a blog. Obviously, that never actually happened…surprise! Now, I am trying to navigate how to add images, text, links, etc. to WordPress! I have to admit that I do sort of find this fun.
Maybe I will create a middle-aged change-of-career librarian blog. It seems like it would be fun to blog about books that I am reading and to post reviews. Or post about the programs I am running and how to sign up for them. Having a professional blog might also help me connect and network with other librarians.
If you’re interested…I am currently reading My Friends by Fredrik Backman, so far it seems like it will be an emotional rollercoaster, as most of his books are.
I am really looking forward to creating these blog posts for this class and to learn more about technology and how it can help me as a librarian.
